The 28115 side of town includes downtown Mooresville, the older neighborhoods around it and much of the newer development spreading east and south. The 28117 side runs toward the lake, including the Brawley School Road peninsula, where waterfront houses and lake-access neighborhoods line the coves.

Mooresville also calls itself Race City USA, and many NASCAR team shops are based here. That gives the town a lot of people who know their way around machinery, and it is common for a homeowner to have already checked the obvious before calling. If yours is struggling, clean the grille and check that it has space to breathe before we come out.

Inside the house, the same lake humidity shows up in quieter ways. Refrigerator doors that are opened constantly during a summer weekend full of guests can frost up or sweat along the gasket, and a dishwasher run several times a day works its pump and heater harder than usual. Neither is a reason to panic, but both are worth mentioning when you book.

Some lake houses are second homes or rentals that sit empty for stretches. Appliances that go unused can develop problems of their own: ice makers with stale or frozen lines, washers with mildew in the door seal, and refrigerators whose drain pans or gaskets have dried out. Running everything for a day before guests arrive can reveal trouble while there is time to fix it.
