Why does my Blomberg burner go out when I let go of the knob?

On models with flame-safety protection, a sensor beside each burner must detect a flame. If it is dirty or misaligned, the gas shuts off. Hold the knob a few extra seconds and clean the sensor; if it continues, the sensor may need replacing.

The electric stove that came with our Ballantyne house has a burner stuck on high. Is that fixable?

Usually. A burner that stays on high regardless of the knob setting is most often a failed infinite switch, a common and moderate repair. Turn off the breaker until it is fixed, and we will test the switch and element before quoting.
