The bin sensor tells the machine to stop, and if it is blocked, dirty or failed, production continues until ice overflows. Check that nothing is in the way of the sensor. If it is clear, the sensor or control needs testing.

Can you replace the saddle valve feeding my fridge in a Kannapolis crawl-space house?

Both use a refrigerated evaporator grid, a water pump and distribution system, sensors that decide when the cubes are ready, and a hot-gas harvest. Undercounter models typically breathe through the front, which makes the installation a big part of how well they work.

Water lines in older houses

Refrigerator water lines in older Kannapolis homes are often thin copper or plastic tubing run up through the floor from the crawl space, sometimes tapped with a saddle valve. Those lines kink when the refrigerator is pushed back, saddle valves clog or seep, and an exposed line under the house can freeze during a hard cold snap or ice storm. Any of these leave the ice maker with little or no water.

Pull the refrigerator out gently and look for kinks behind it. Make sure the shutoff valve is fully open and replace the filter if it is overdue. If water is dripping under the house near the line, close the valve and call us.

We test the inlet valve, ice maker, fill tube and freezer temperature, and suggest a better line or valve when the old one is the weak link. Newer refrigerators in recent subdivisions are more likely to have valve or ice maker module failures. The diagnosis and price come before any repair.
