My LG washer shows LE. Is the motor bad?

Not necessarily. LE can appear when the drum is overloaded or something is jammed, and also when the rotor position sensor or stator wiring fails. Remove part of the load and restart it. If the code returns with a normal load, the motor components need testing.

My front-loader at our Mooresville lake house will not drain after a weekend of towels. What happened?

Sand, hair or a small item has likely clogged the drain pump filter or pump. Clean the filter if it has an access panel, with towels ready for the water. If it still will not drain, we test and clear or replace the pump.

LG Washers: What We Check First

Every LG washer, front-load or top-load, is built on a direct-drive motor: a rotor fastened directly to the drum shaft, wrapped around a fixed stator, with a hall-effect sensor telling the control board where the rotor is. There is no belt, no pulley and no transmission. Owners get quiet operation and fewer wear parts, and technicians need to read symptoms differently, because nearly all spin and drive problems come down to that motor, its sensor, the tub bearings or the controls.

Lake towels, mildew and second-floor laundry
