First make sure the lid is fully closed and nothing is blocking the lock. A slow drain can also prevent spin, so check for a kinked drain hose. If those are fine, the lid lock, belt or drive components may need testing.

Many top-loaders lock the lid during agitation and spin and use a drive belt or coupling with a gearcase and shifter. Lake towels, mildew and second-floor laundry
