Daily Use and Over-the-Range Wear

Updated ranch kitchens and townhomes in 28212 and 28215 often have an over-the-range model that also vents the stove, and grease and steam from heavy cooking clog its filters and wear the fan motor. A microwave that sparks usually has a damaged waveguide cover or food buildup inside, and it should not be used until it is cleaned or checked.

What Is Safe to Check and When to Call

Never open the outer case, because the capacitor inside can hold a dangerous charge long after the unit is unplugged. You can reset the breaker, clean the interior and the grease filters and confirm the door shuts firmly. If it still will not heat, we test the switches, fuse, diode and magnetron.
