Why is my Gaggenau column refrigerator sweating around the door?

Sweating usually means warm, humid air is reaching the cold gasket area, often because the door has dropped slightly out of alignment. On panel-ready columns the heavy panel slowly pulls the hinge out of adjustment. A technician can realign it and check the gasket before the frost spreads inside.

The fridge in my NoDa mill cottage won't keep its doors closed. Is that a repair?

Often it is an adjustment. Older floors can slope, and tilting the fridge slightly back with its leveling legs helps the doors swing shut. If the gasket is torn or a hinge is worn, we can replace those parts.

Each column has its own compressor, controls and door, and each one draws and exhausts air through the grille at the toe kick. That design lets the kitchen read as one continuous surface, but it also means the column depends on its cabinet for airflow and on its hinge adjustment for a proper seal.

Alcoves and Sloping Floors
