What do the d80, d90 and d95 codes on my LG dryer mean?

They are Flow Sense warnings that the exhaust vent is restricted, with the higher numbers indicating more blockage. The dryer can still run, but it works harder and dries slower. Clean the lint path and the full vent run to the outside, and have the vent inspected if the warning keeps returning.

Our newer dryer in Steele Creek stops early and clothes are still damp. Why?

A coated moisture sensor is a common cause, since residue from dryer sheets or softener fools it into reading dry. Wipe the two metal bars inside the drum and try again. If it still ends early, the sensor or control may need testing.

Can landscaping block a dryer vent outside our home?

Yes. Mulch piled against the wall, shrubs grown over the hood, or a flap stuck with lint can all restrict airflow. Clear the area around the exterior hood and check that the flap swings open when the dryer runs.

LG Dryers: What We Check First

LG dryers are not direct-drive like LG washers. They use a conventional belt around the drum, driven by a motor that also powers the blower, with rear rollers and a front bearing or slides supporting the drum. Electric units heat with an element; gas models use an igniter, flame sensor and valve coils. Many LG dryers add a moisture sensor, steam features and a heat pump on some newer models, plus Flow Sense, which watches the exhaust and warns when airflow is restricted.

Moisture Sensors, Vent Hoods and Damp Towels

Steele Creek dryers are mostly newer models with moisture sensors that end the cycle when they judge clothes to be dry. If the sensor bars are coated with fabric softener residue, the dryer stops early and leaves damp seams. If airflow is restricted, the same dryer runs too long, gets hot and may trip its thermal fuse.

Restricted airflow is a real risk in an area with ongoing construction and heavy spring pollen. The exterior vent hood, often on a side wall near fresh landscaping, can be blocked by dust, lint or mulch. In apartment buildings, longer shared vent paths add resistance of their own.

Unplug the dryer, wipe the metal sensor bars inside the drum with a little rubbing alcohol, clean the lint screen, and confirm the outside flap opens while it runs. If it still under-dries, we test the heating element or gas valve, fuses, thermostats, sensor and control and quote first. Should a gas dryer ever smell of gas, leave and call the gas utility or 911.
