Why does my Thermador gas oven take so long to heat?

A weak hot-surface igniter is the most common cause. It may glow without drawing enough current to open the gas valve fully. We test the igniter and valve to confirm.

The flames on our Polkton propane stove are yellow and uneven. Is that dangerous?

Yellow, lazy flames mean the burner is not burning cleanly, often because of clogged ports or a cap out of place. Clean and reseat the burner with everything off. If the flames stay yellow, stop using that burner and have it checked, and call your propane supplier if you smell gas.

Can you replace a burned coil socket on an old electric stove in Peachland?

Most Thermador stoves in Charlotte kitchens are freestanding pro-style ranges from the Pro Harmony and Pro Grand lines, in widths from 30 up to 60 inches. They come as all-gas or dual-fuel, with Star burners on top, and some include a griddle or grill. Pro Grand dual-fuel models may include a steam oven alongside the main convection oven. Propane and Electric Stoves in the Country

Rural homes here typically cook on an electric stove or one running on propane from a tank on the property. Electric coil stoves tend to lose a burner to a burned socket or terminal, or a switch that leaves a burner stuck on high. Propane stoves show weak or yellow flames from clogged ports, igniters that spark without lighting, and burners that are slow to catch.

With the stove off and cool, swap a dead coil burner with a working one of the same size to see whether the fault moves. On gas, clean and dry the caps and burner heads. Leave the regulator, tank and fittings to your propane supplier, and if you smell gas, leave the home and call them or 911.
