About Thermador Stove Repair
Most Thermador stoves in Charlotte kitchens are freestanding pro-style ranges from the Pro Harmony and Pro Grand lines, in widths from 30 up to 60 inches. They come as all-gas or dual-fuel, with Star burners on top, and some include a griddle or grill. Pro Grand dual-fuel models may include a steam oven alongside the main convection oven. On Pro Grand models, the extra width can mean six or eight burners and two ovens, each with its own controls.
On the cooktop, Thermador stoves share the ignition issues of the brand's cooktops: clicking after boilovers, cracked igniters, failed spark modules and burner caps that aren't seated. In the oven, gas models depend on a hot-surface igniter that weakens over time, leading to slow or failed heating. Dual-fuel ovens can lose elements or have convection fans and temperature sensors fail. Griddle elements and thermostats can also fail. Grease and humidity combine on igniter tips over time, and on a busy family stove that is often the whole problem.
With the stove off and cool, clean and dry the burners and igniters and reseat the Star caps. If the oven is slow to light, note whether you hear clicking or see a glow. On dual-fuel models, reset the breaker if the controls misbehave. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.
Our technician tests the ignition system, gas valves, oven igniter amperage, sensors, elements and convection motor. We also check griddle components and any steam oven systems. Once we know the cause, we explain it plainly and give the price before touching any part. We also check the gas pressure regulator on the stove when flames look weak across every burner.
Thermador pro-style stoves are expensive and built to be repaired. Igniters, sensors, fans and elements are standard fixes, and we tell you about lead time on any specialty part. If a stove is still under the Thermador warranty, using that coverage may be the better route, and we will tell you so.
Where Thermador Stoves Tend to Fail
- Weak gas oven igniter delaying or preventing oven heating
- Spark module failure stopping all burners from lighting
- Griddle element or thermostat failing to heat evenly
- Convection fan or sensor issues on dual-fuel ovens
