Thermador freezers are mainly Freedom all-freezer columns, installed alongside a matching refrigerator column or on their own. They use frost-free cooling with a fan-driven evaporator and electronic controls, and most include an automatic ice maker. Panel-ready doors are common, which makes the hinge and gasket especially important. The machinery behind the grille includes a condenser fan and compressor that need clear airflow to keep up during a hot Carolina summer.

The problems we see on Thermador freezer columns mirror those of the refrigerator columns, with a few freezer-specific twists. Defrost faults let frost pack the evaporator and the freezer warms slowly. Ice makers stop because the fill line freezes, the water valve fails, or the ice maker module itself stops cycling. Control board and sensor issues show up as alarms or inconsistent temperatures, especially after storms. Sagging doors allow humid air in, causing frost on the walls and around the ice bin.

Before calling, reset the breaker if the display is acting strangely. Check the door seal by closing the door slowly and looking for gaps. Make sure the water supply to the ice maker is on. Vacuum the grille that feeds the condenser, which collects dust and pollen. If frost is building, don't chip at it; let us find the cause. Moving food to a cooler early protects it if the freezer is clearly warming.
