When a Charlotte homeowner calls about a Miele stove, it is usually a pro-style freestanding range in 30, 36 or 48 inches. Miele builds these as all-gas and dual-fuel models with dual-stacked burners that go from a very low simmer to high output, plus an oven with M Touch controls on many versions. The dual-fuel models use an electric oven with convection; all-gas versions use gas burners for baking.

The faults we see on Miele stoves often involve ignition. Burners that click without lighting, burners that relight repeatedly, and igniters cracked by heavy pots are common. Oven issues include temperature drift from a failing sensor, convection fans that stop or grind, and a door lock that sticks after self-cleaning. On models with electronic controls, surges from summer storms can cause the display or touch controls to misbehave. Spark modules can also fail outright, leaving every burner silent at once, and a weak oven igniter on all-gas models delays or prevents baking.

Before calling, make sure all burners are off and the stove is cool. Remove the burner caps and grates, wipe the igniters and burner heads dry, and reseat the caps flat. On dual-fuel models, cutting the breaker for a few minutes can reset a confused control. If you ever smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.
