About Miele Range Repair
Miele ranges are pro-style units sold in 30, 36 and 48-inch widths, in all-gas and dual-fuel configurations. Their dual-stacked burners run two flame rings, so a single burner can deliver a gentle simmer or a high-output sear. Larger models may include a griddle and two ovens, and the main oven on many versions uses M Touch controls with automatic programs and a moisture-assist feature. These ranges are heavy and usually installed against a backsplash with a matching hood, so they are rarely moved.
Because these ranges combine sophisticated gas burners with electronic oven controls, diagnosis covers two systems. On the cooktop, we see igniter failures, burners that won't light on the lower ring, clicking from moisture after boilovers, and griddle temperature issues. In the oven, failures include sensors that drift, convection fans, door locks after self-clean, and gas oven igniters on all-gas models. Surges can scramble the electronic controls. Griddles and dual ovens add their own thermostats, igniters and controls, which widens the list of possible culprits.
With the range cool and burners off, clean and dry the burners and igniters, reseat the caps, and check that the griddle is clean. If the oven is acting strangely after a storm, reset the breaker. If you notice a gas odor, leave immediately and call the gas utility. Make a note of any message on the oven display before resetting, since it helps the diagnosis.
