About Frigidaire Range Repair
Frigidaire makes freestanding and slide-in ranges in gas, electric coil, electric smoothtop and induction versions. Freestanding models are among the most common ranges in local rentals and older homes, while Gallery and Professional slide-ins appear more often in remodels. Frigidaire has also become one of the more affordable sources of induction ranges, which are showing up in more homes.
On gas ranges, the bake igniter is the classic failure, followed by surface burner igniters and spark modules fouled by spills. On electric coil ranges, burner receptacles and infinite switches wear out, and a burner may heat only on high or not at all. Smoothtop ranges can lose a radiant element or control. Induction ranges depend on power boards and a cooling fan, and either can fail. Control boards on all types can be damaged by surges. Electric coil models are simple enough that a single burned receptacle is often the whole problem.
Check that the breaker is on and the range is plugged in fully. For gas ranges, make sure the gas valve is open. On coil ranges, try swapping a dead burner into a working socket; if it heats, the burner was the problem, and if not, the receptacle or switch may be. On induction ranges, use cookware a magnet will stick to. If there is a gas odor, get everyone out and call the gas company or 911 from the yard.

Most range repairs on a Frigidaire are inexpensive. An induction power board or main control on an older basic range may cost a large share of a new one, and we will tell you when replacement makes more sense.
