Dacor Range Repair

A Dacor range is two appliances in one frame. On the dual-fuel models that are most common in this area, gas burners sit on top and an electric convection oven sits below, each with its own power and control circuits. Wider professional-style models may add a griddle or a second oven. Because the oven is electric and the top is gas, the range needs both a gas line and a 240-volt circuit, and problems can come from either side.

Oven faults on Dacor ranges mirror the wall ovens: bake and convection elements that open, convection fans that grind, temperature sensors that drift and make baking unreliable, and door hinges that sag under a heavy door. A cooling fan behind the control panel protects the electronics, and when it fails the board and switches suffer. Up top, burners click without stopping, refuse to light, or burn with lazy yellow flames. Range doors and cooktop surfaces both pick up heat, so a failed fan can show up as melted wiring or a glitchy display.

Before calling, confirm the basics. If the oven is dead but the burners light, check the range's 240-volt breaker, since a half-tripped double breaker can leave the oven without heat while the clock still works. If only the burners misbehave, clean and reseat the caps and let things dry. Look at the oven door from the side for a gap. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility or 911; do not search for the leak yourself.

We test both sides of the range in one visit: ignition parts and valves on top, elements, sensor, fans and board below. That avoids treating an oven symptom as a burner problem or the reverse, and it means a single estimate covering everything that is wrong.

Dacor ranges are heavy, well-built and expensive to replace, so most repairs make sense. The exceptions are rare discontinued boards on older ranges, which we check before quoting so you can decide with the full picture.
