About Viking Range Repair
Viking's dual-fuel ranges combine the brand's heavy gas burners with an electric oven, and they are a favorite for serious home bakers. Many 5 Series and 7 Series models use TruConvec, which places a third heating element around the convection fan for more even heat, and larger 48-inch and 60-inch ranges add a second oven along with a griddle, grill or both. Controls range from knobs with a mechanical thermostat on older models to electronic controls with temperature sensors on newer ones.
Because the oven is electric, the failure list differs from all-gas Viking ranges. Bake, broil and convection elements burn out, often with a visible blister or break. Convection fan motors can start grinding or stop, which shows up as uneven browning. On electronic models, a temperature sensor can drift or a control board can fail, sometimes after a summer storm surge. Self-clean cycles are hard on door locks and thermal fuses. Up top, the gas burners have the same ignition weak points as Viking's other ranges, and griddle thermostats can fail.
Before booking, put an oven thermometer in the center rack and compare it to the setting after twenty minutes. With the breaker off, look at the visible elements for damage. Check whether the convection fan spins in convection mode. If the controls are frozen, a minute with the breaker off may reset them. On the cooktop, dry and reseat the caps after any spill.
Our technician tests each element, the convection motor, the sensor or thermostat and the control, and checks door locks and hinges. On dual-oven ranges we check each cavity separately. We also test burner ignition and griddle components. You receive the diagnosis and price before any work starts.
A Viking dual-fuel range is expensive to replace and usually tied to a matching hood and backsplash, so element, fan, sensor and ignition repairs make sense. If a control board is involved, we tell you about cost and lead time first.
