About KitchenAid Range Repair
KitchenAid ranges come in two families. Slide-in models in gas, electric, induction and dual-fuel versions fit flush with the countertop and put their controls on the front. Commercial-style ranges in 30, 36 and 48-inch widths use heavier grates, high-output sealed burners, and in dual-fuel versions an electric convection oven paired with gas burners. Each has a distinct set of weak points.
On gas ovens, the hot-surface igniter weakens and the oven lights slowly or not at all. Commercial-style ranges also wear out spark modules and burner switches, especially after boil-overs. On electric and induction slide-ins, the bake element, convection fan, induction power board or control can fail. Dual-fuel models combine both sets of possibilities, so we check the gas and electric sides separately.
Start with the basics. Confirm the breaker is on and the gas valve behind the range is open. Make sure the control lock is off. Clean and dry burner caps and bases after spills. On induction, use cookware a magnet will stick to and keep the cooling vents clear. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas company or 911 from outside.
Our technicians measure the igniter current draw, test the gas valve and spark module, and check elements, sensor, fans and control boards. On commercial-style ranges, heavy grates and burners come off to reach the ignition system. For slide-ins, we may need to pull the range out, and we protect the countertop edge and flooring.
Igniters, spark modules, sensors and elements are reasonable repairs on a KitchenAid range. A commercial-style range is a large investment, so even control or valve repairs usually make sense. We will tell you the price and our opinion before the work begins. If the range is still within its first year, we will also point you toward KitchenAid's own warranty service before you pay for anything.
Where KitchenAid Ranges Tend to Fail
- Gas oven hot-surface igniter weakening, delaying oven ignition
- Spark module or burner switch failing after boil-overs
- Bake element, convection fan or sensor failure in electric ovens
- Induction power board failure knocking out cooking zones
