About Bosch Range Repair
Most Bosch ranges are slide-in models designed to sit flush with the countertop, with controls on the front rather than a back panel. They come in gas, electric smoothtop, dual-fuel and induction versions, and each pairs a European-style convection oven with a different cooktop. The slide-in design looks clean but puts the controls, wiring and cooling fan close to the heat, which shapes how these ranges fail.
On gas models, the oven's hot-surface igniter weakens over time and the oven takes too long to light or fails to light at all. On induction models, the cooling fan and power boards are the sensitive points, and a blocked fan or a power surge can make a zone cut out or set an error. Across all versions, the oven sensor, convection fan and bake element see the most wear. Front controls are also exposed to spills and steam.
Start with the basics. Confirm the breaker is on and, for gas or dual-fuel ranges, that the gas valve behind the range is open. Make sure the control lock is not active. On an induction range, use cookware that a magnet sticks to and check that the fan intake under the cooktop is not blocked. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.
During a visit, we test the igniter's current draw on gas ovens, the induction power boards and fan, and the oven sensor and elements. Slide-in ranges sometimes have to be pulled out to reach the rear wiring or gas connections, and we take care with the countertop edges and flooring.
Igniters, sensors and fans are reasonable repairs on a Bosch slide-in range. An induction power board is a larger job but often still makes sense on a newer range, since replacing a slide-in can also mean dealing with the countertop cutout. We will give you a clear price first.
