About Fisher & Paykel Range Repair
Fisher & Paykel's electric ranges are mostly induction models, in freestanding and slide-in styles, with some radiant glass-top units in the lineup. An induction range is two demanding systems sharing one 240-volt supply: a cooktop with power boards and coils that draw heavy current, and a convection oven with its own elements, fans, sensor and control. A cooling fan behind the scenes protects the electronics on both. When something fails, the first job is working out which half is at fault and whether they share a cause.
A blank display and dead cooktop together usually point to the supply or a main control rather than a single zone. If one induction zone fails while the others work, a coil or the power board feeding it is the usual suspect. Zones that heat briefly then shut off suggest overheating from a fan problem. The oven can lose an element, run unevenly when its convection fan quits, or show a fault after a summer storm surge has damaged the control.
Before scheduling, reset the range breaker fully off and on, and note whether anything at all lights up. Test cookware with a magnet and try a different pan on the dead zone. Keep the area under a slide-in range clear so its fan can breathe. With the oven, note which functions fail, since that points us to the right element.
We measure supply voltage at the terminal block, then test coils, power boards, fans, oven elements, the sensor and the control. Induction boards are sensitive to heat and surges, so we also check for burned traces or swollen components. Parts availability is confirmed before quoting.
Elements, fans and sensors are reasonable repairs, and on a premium range even a power board is usually worth replacing. If several boards have failed on an older range, we will help you compare a repair against a new unit.
