About Frigidaire Washer Repair

Frigidaire sells top-load and front-load washers, plus compact laundry centers that combine a washer and dryer in one tall unit. Front-loaders are the more common service call. They use a horizontal drum, a door boot seal, a door lock, a drain pump and an electronic control, while top-loaders use a vertical drum and an agitator or impeller. Laundry centers are popular in apartments and townhomes where space is tight.

Front-load Frigidaire washers often develop odors and mildew in the door boot, especially in humid summers or when the door stays closed between loads. The drain pump can clog with lint or small objects, leaving water in the drum. Door locks fail and stop the cycle from starting. As machines age, drum bearings and shock absorbers wear, causing loud spin cycles or heavy shaking. Top-loaders more commonly see lid switch, pump and suspension issues.

Leave the door open between loads and wipe the boot and gasket dry. Clean the detergent dispenser and use only high-efficiency detergent in the right amount. If your model has a drain filter behind a small panel at the front bottom, unplug the washer, put towels down, and clean the filter. Make sure the washer is level and the shipping bolts were removed if it is new. Do not open the drum or electrical panels yourself.

Our diagnosis tests the drain pump, door lock, motor and control, and checks bearings and suspension. Laundry centers have the washer and dryer in one frame, so access can require moving the whole unit. You hear what we found and what it costs before any part goes in.

Pump, lock and boot repairs are usually worthwhile on a Frigidaire washer. Bearing failure on an older front-loader can cost a large share of a new machine, and we will tell you if replacement makes more sense.

Where Frigidaire Washers Tend to Fail

  • Front-load door boot growing mildew and odor in humid weather
  • Drain pump clogged by lint or small objects
  • Door lock failure stopping the wash cycle from starting
  • Drum bearings or shock absorbers worn, causing loud spin
