Frigidaire Stove Repair

This page focuses on the cooktop surface of a Frigidaire stove, the part of a range you use every day. Frigidaire stoves come with gas burners, exposed electric coils, or a smooth glass top over radiant elements. Gas burners use spark igniters, while electric burners use infinite switches or electronic controls to manage heat. Each surface has its own weak points.

On gas Frigidaire stoves, igniters and spark modules can foul from spills, causing constant clicking or failure to light. Burner ports clog and cause uneven flames. On coil stoves, the burner element, its plug-in receptacle or the infinite switch can burn out, leaving a burner dead or stuck on high. On glass tops, radiant elements and switches fail, and the glass can crack from impact or heavy pots dropped on it.

For gas stoves, let the burners cool, clean the caps and bases, and dry them fully before reassembling. On coil stoves, check that each burner is fully seated in its receptacle; swapping burners between sockets can show whether the burner or the socket is bad. On glass tops, clean spills promptly with a cooktop cleaner and avoid sliding heavy pans. If you smell gas or see sparking at a receptacle, turn off the power or gas and call for service. Never line coil drip pans with foil, which can trap heat and damage the receptacle.

During diagnosis, we test spark modules, switches, receptacles and elements, and check gas flow at each burner. We look for heat damage around coil receptacles, which can spread if not addressed. If the glass is cracked, we explain replacement options and cost.
