About Miele Cooktop Repair

Miele cooktops come in induction, gas and modular CombiSet versions. Induction models often include PowerFlex zones that combine for large pans and controls that can link with a Miele hood. Gas cooktops use sealed burners with electronic ignition and automatic re-ignition, which relights a burner if the flame goes out. CombiSets let owners mix induction, gas, teppanyaki or grill modules in one counter.

Common induction issues include a zone that doesn't detect cookware, an error indicator, a cooling fan failure, or a touch control that stops responding. These typically trace to power modules, coils or sensors. Gas cooktops see constant clicking after spills, burners that won't stay lit because the flame sensing or re-ignition system is fouled, and igniter or spark module failures. Cracked glass on induction tops is a separate problem that requires a new top. Induction electronics also dislike heat, so a cooktop installed above a wall oven or with a poorly ventilated cabinet underneath can see more cooling-related faults.

Before you call, turn off the breaker for induction units or confirm all gas burners are off. Make sure your pan is induction-compatible and centered on the zone. Clean and dry spills on the controls. On gas cooktops, reseat burner caps and check that the igniter tips are clean and dry. If you smell gas, leave the house without operating switches and contact the gas utility.

When we visit we check supply voltage, test power modules and coils, check the cooling fan and sensors, and for gas cooktops examine the ignition and re-ignition components. On CombiSets we test the individual module that has failed. Before any part is ordered, you hear what failed, why, and what the repair will cost.

Miele induction power modules and gas ignition parts are worthwhile repairs on most cooktops. Parts may have a lead time, which we tell you before ordering. Cracked glass is a bigger decision we discuss openly.

Where Miele Cooktops Tend to Fail

  • Induction power module failure disabling a PowerFlex zone
  • Cooling fan fault causing induction shutdowns
  • Gas re-ignition clicking from wet or fouled igniters
  • Touch control unresponsive after spills or surges
