About Wolf Cooktop Repair
Wolf's cooktop family includes gas rangetops that sit in a countertop cutout with front-facing knobs, gas cooktops with sealed dual-stacked burners, induction cooktops and electric radiant models. Gas rangetops may include a charbroiler, griddle or French top. All gas models use spark ignition with automatic re-ignition, so the system relights a burner if it senses the flame has gone out.
Ignition problems lead the list on Wolf gas cooktops and rangetops. Igniters crack from pots being dropped, absorb moisture during cleaning, or wear with time. A spark module that fails leaves every burner silent. Continuous clicking after a burner is lit usually means the system isn't sensing the flame, often because of moisture, debris or a misaligned cap. Griddles and charbroilers have their own burners, igniters and thermostats. Induction models can develop power board, coil or cooling fan issues. Rangetops installed in islands also collect crumbs and liquid under the knobs, which can reach the ignition switches.
Before calling, make sure all knobs are off and the cooktop is cool. Remove grates and burner caps, clean and dry the igniters and burner heads, and reseat the caps carefully. Let parts dry fully before relighting, especially during humid summer weather. Induction owners should try a breaker reset and a quick magnet test on the pan bottom. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside.
Our technician tests the spark module, igniters, switches and burner valves, checks for clogged ports, and inspects caps and burner seating. For griddles and charbroilers we test the dedicated components. For induction we test power boards, coils and fans. You receive the diagnosis and the price before any work.
Wolf cooktops and rangetops are expensive and built into countertops, so ignition, burner and induction repairs are almost always worth doing. If the cooktop is still under the manufacturer warranty, we will tell you, and our own work carries a 90-day parts and 30-day labor warranty.
