About Gaggenau Cooktop Repair
A Gaggenau cooktop is often not a single cooktop at all. The Vario system lets designers line up separate modules in the counter: gas burners, a high-output wok, induction zones, a Teppan Yaki griddle, an electric grill, a fryer or a steamer, sometimes alongside a downdraft vent module. Each piece has its own controls and electrical supply, and Gaggenau also makes larger single induction and gas cooktops. The first job on any visit is working out which module is faulty and how it is powered.
Gas modules commonly click without lighting or light and then go out. That points to the igniter, the spark module, or the thermocouple that proves the flame, and spills or aggressive cleaning are usually behind it. Induction modules depend on cooling fans and electronics under the counter. If the cabinet below is packed or the ventilation gap was closed during installation, the module overheats, cuts power or throws an error. Power surges can damage induction electronics outright.
If you smell gas, turn nothing on or off, leave the house, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. For non-urgent problems, make sure burner caps and heads are dry and seated exactly, and check that nothing is stored tightly against the underside of induction modules. A single dead module may be on its own breaker, so look at the panel before assuming a failure. Do not remove modules from the counter yourself.
ProFix tests spark and flame supervision on gas units, checks fan operation, power supply and board outputs on induction, and confirms the supply voltage and gas pressure at the module. We also look at the installation clearances, because a module that keeps overheating will fail again if the cause is the cabinet.
Because modules are independent, repair is usually the sensible route: one failed induction board does not justify replacing a whole run of counter equipment. Discontinued modules are the exception, and we will tell you if parts for yours are no longer available.
Where Gaggenau Cooktops Tend to Fail
- Gas module igniter or spark generator failing after spills
- Thermocouple flame supervision not holding, so the burner goes out
- Induction module overheating from blocked under-counter ventilation clearance
- Induction power electronics damaged by storm-related voltage surges
