About Electrolux Cooktop Repair
Electrolux cooktops come in three main types: induction with touch controls, smoothtop radiant electric, and sealed gas burners with spark ignition. Induction has become a signature for the brand, and those models depend on power boards, cooling fans, sensors under the glass, and a touch interface. Gas versions use a spark module that fires every igniter when any knob is turned, plus individual burner valves.
On induction models, the faults we see are a zone that won't detect a pan, an error indicator, a cooling fan that has failed, or a touch strip that stops responding. These typically trace to a power board, a coil, a temperature sensor or a control module. Pans matter too: if a magnet won't stick firmly to the bottom, induction won't heat it. Radiant electric cooktops tend to lose elements or the infinite switches that control them. Gas cooktops show constant clicking after a spill, burners that won't light because the igniter is wet or cracked, or a spark module that has quit.
Before calling, turn off the breaker for electric or induction units, or turn the gas burners off, before inspecting. Check that pans are induction-compatible. Wipe spills from the touch area, since water on the glass can confuse the controls. On gas cooktops, make sure burner caps are seated flat and the ports are dry. If you smell gas, don't touch switches; leave the house and call the gas utility or 911.
Our technician checks supply voltage, tests individual zones and boards, measures element resistance, checks the cooling fan, and for gas models examines the spark module, igniters and burner alignment. We explain the cause and price before any parts are ordered.
Induction power boards are the costliest part on these cooktops, but they are often still worth replacing compared to a new cooktop and cutout. Cracked glass is a bigger decision, since the top can be expensive to source.
Where Electrolux Cooktops Tend to Fail
- Induction zone not detecting cookware due to coil or board fault
- Cooling fan failure causing induction shutdowns and error indicators
- Gas igniters clicking continuously after spills or boilovers
- Radiant element or infinite switch failure on smoothtop models
