Is clicking normal on a Thermador cooktop?

On ExtraLow, the burner cycles on and off and clicks to relight, which is normal. Continuous clicking at other settings or with the knobs off usually means a wet or failing switch or igniter.

Our induction cooktop in a renovated Davidson kitchen shuts off mid-cooking. Why?

Induction units shut down when they overheat, often because the cabinet below blocks their cooling fan or the fan has failed. Make sure the vents underneath are clear. If it continues, a technician can test the fan, sensors and power board.

Several burners on our Cornelius gas cooktop click but will not light. Is that one part?

Often it is a shared spark module, or moisture in the switches after a spill. Let the cooktop dry and check the caps. If clicking persists with no flame, a technician can test the module and igniters.

Thermador Cooktops: What We Check First

Thermador's gas cooktops are built around its patented Star burners, whose five-pointed shape gives a longer flame perimeter and more even heat. Many include ExtraLow, which cycles the flame on and off for very gentle simmering. Thermador also makes induction cooktops, including the Freedom induction model that can detect pans anywhere on the surface, and some electric radiant models. Gas models use a single spark module that sends current to every igniter when any knob is turned to light.

Renovations and Lakefront Kitchens
