Why is my LG freezer drawer covered in frost?

Usually the drawer is not sealing, because something is blocking it or the rails or gasket are out of position. A failed defrost system can also cause heavy frost on the back panel. Check that the drawer closes all the way, and call us if frost keeps returning.

Can you repair a freezer in a shed on our Mint Hill property?

Freezers Away From the House

A detached garage or metal outbuilding can get very hot on summer afternoons, and a freezer there runs long hours to keep up. The condenser fan, start relay and thermostat carry the extra load, and dust from lawn equipment and pollen coats the coils. Outbuildings fed by long extension cords also risk low voltage, which stresses compressors.

When power drops during a storm, an outbuilding freezer can be the last thing anyone checks. A GFCI that trips during the outage may keep it off even after the lights come back on in the house. A small plug-in alarm inside the freezer is a cheap way to know sooner.

Saving the Food and Getting a Diagnosis

Move food to a cooler or another freezer right away. Check the circuit and any GFCI, plug the freezer directly into a grounded outlet rather than an extension cord, and give it a few hours. If it hums but does not cool, unplug it rather than letting it struggle.
