With the stove off and cool, swap the suspect element into a working position. If it still does not heat, the element is bad. If it works there, the receptacle or switch at the original spot is the problem.

What to Check and What Happens Next

Turn off the breaker or unplug the stove before removing a coil or drip pan. Confirm the oven is not on a delayed-start setting, and check that the anti-tip bracket is in place.
