Maytag Ranges: What We Check First

Maytag has a long history with ranges, including the Gemini double-oven models that put a small upper oven above a larger lower one, an idea current Maytag double-oven ranges still carry. Today's freestanding and slide-in Maytag ranges are Whirlpool-platform designs with a Power Burner on gas cooktops, Power Preheat in the oven and electronic controls that run both cavities on double-oven models. On electric versions, everything draws from a single 240-volt supply that enters through a terminal block at the back.

Pro-Style, Dual-Fuel and Slide-In Ranges

Larger homes toward Foxcroft and Quail Hollow often have wide pro-style or dual-fuel ranges, which pair gas burners with an electric oven. That means one appliance can have a sparking igniter on top and a failed bake element or convection fan motor below. These ranges are heavy and sit tight against cabinets, so moving one takes care to protect the floor and side panels.

Remodeled Cotswold and Montclaire kitchens more often have slide-in ranges with touch controls, which can be affected when a summer storm sends a surge through the house. A blank display or error that will not clear is a typical sign.
