A power surge can trip the breaker or damage the electronic controls. Reset the breaker fully, wait a few minutes, and try again. If it still does not work, the control or power board may need attention.

Let the oven cool fully, then switch the breaker off for a few minutes and on again, which sometimes releases the lock. If it stays locked, the latch motor, switch or control may have failed, and the technician can test and replace the faulty part.

Slide-In Ranges and the Case for Repair

A slide-in range fits flush between cabinets, with controls on the front and a cooktop that overlaps the counter. In a condo, the opening was built for that exact footprint, and a replacement has to match the width, height and electrical or gas hookup, then ride the elevator up. That is why repairing a failed element, igniter, sensor or control board is often the more practical choice for a range that is otherwise sound.

Newer ranges lean heavily on electronics: touch panels, convection fans and self-clean door locks. A door that stays locked after a self-clean cycle or a panel that goes blank after a storm are typical faults.
