The burners on my Thor dual-fuel range work but the oven won't heat. Why?

The oven runs on electricity, so it can fail independently of the gas cooktop. A partly tripped breaker, a burned-out element or a failed control relay are the most likely causes. Reset the breaker fully, and if the oven stays cold, the elements and board need testing.

My range door is locked after a self-clean cycle in my Uptown condo. What now?

Let the oven cool fully, then switch the breaker off for a few minutes and on again, which sometimes releases the lock. If it stays locked, the latch motor, switch or control may have failed, and the technician can test and replace the faulty part.

Is it worth repairing a slide-in range in an Uptown high-rise instead of replacing it?

Thor's dual-fuel ranges pair gas burners on top with an electric convection oven below, so the range needs both a gas line and a 240-volt circuit. The brand also sells electric and induction ranges in the same pro-style shell. That split matters for diagnosis, because a dual-fuel Thor can have a perfectly healthy cooktop and a dead oven, or the other way around, and the two halves fail for completely different reasons.

Slide-In Ranges and the Case for Repair

A slide-in range fits flush between cabinets, with controls on the front and a cooktop that overlaps the counter. In a condo, the opening was built for that exact footprint, and a replacement has to match the width, height and electrical or gas hookup, then ride the elevator up. That is why repairing a failed element, igniter, sensor or control board is often the more practical choice for a range that is otherwise sound.

Newer ranges lean heavily on electronics: touch panels, convection fans and self-clean door locks. A door that stays locked after a self-clean cycle or a panel that goes blank after a storm are typical faults. Switch off the breaker for a few minutes to see whether the control resets before booking.
