Why does my MaxxIce keep making ice when the bin is full?

The bin sensor tells the machine to stop, and if it is blocked, dirty or failed, production continues until ice overflows. Check that nothing is in the way of the sensor. If it is clear, the sensor or control needs testing.

Why does my ice maker in Stanfield stop every few months?

On well water, sediment often clogs the inlet valve or filter repeatedly. Replacing the valve fixes it for a while, and a sediment filter on the well protects the new one. We can diagnose it and quote the repair.

Can you fix the ice maker in my new Locust refrigerator?

MaxxIce machines are cube makers in two main forms: self-contained undercounter units with a built-in bin, and modular heads that sit on top of a separate storage bin. Both use a refrigerated evaporator grid, a water pump and distribution system, sensors that decide when the cubes are ready, and a hot-gas harvest. Undercounter models typically breathe through the front, which makes the installation a big part of how well they work.

Sediment, filters and long water lines

Well sediment and iron collect in the refrigerator's inlet valve and filter, which shrinks cubes or stops ice production entirely. In farmhouses, the water line to the refrigerator may run a long way from the supply, sometimes through an unheated crawl space where it can freeze during an ice storm. In newer Locust homes, overdue filters and failing ice maker modules are more typical.

Replace the refrigerator filter if it is past due, check that the shutoff valve is fully open, and look behind the refrigerator for a kinked line. Confirm the freezer is cold enough, since a warm freezer makes little ice. If a well filter is installed, check whether it needs changing.
