Don't force it, because that can strip the drive gears. Turn the breaker off and on to reset it, then try again. If it still will not move, the drive motor, switches or control board need testing.

Over-the-range units in busy kitchens

In rental kitchens, the over-the-range microwave gets slammed doors, spilled food and heavy daily use. Food splatter left inside can arc against the waveguide cover and burn a hole in it, which shows up as sparks and a scorched spot on the inside wall.
