My Whirlpool washer stops with the lid locked. Why?

The washer locks the lid during agitation and spin. If the lock motor or switch fails to report properly, the washer stops and may show a lid lock code. We test the lock and its wiring and replace the part that failed.

Our upstairs washer shakes the floor during spin. Is that a repair or a leveling problem?

It can be either. Start by checking that all four feet sit firmly and the load is not one heavy item like a comforter. If it still shakes with a normal mixed load, worn shocks, springs or suspension rods are likely, and a technician can confirm which.
