Check the outlet first. Garage outlets are often on GFCI circuits that trip during storms, cutting power without any obvious sign. Reset the GFCI and see if the freezer starts. If it does not, the relay, control or compressor may need testing.

We came back to our Cornelius lake house and the garage freezer had thawed. What should we do?
