Why does one burner on my Amana electric range not work?

The burner, its receptacle or its infinite switch may have failed. Swapping the burner into a working socket can show which. A technician can test the switch and receptacle.

My range's display went dark after a thunderstorm in East Charlotte. What can I try?

Switch off its breaker for a few minutes, then turn it back on to reset the control. If the display stays dark, the control board, a fuse on the board or the power supply may have been damaged. We test those before suggesting a part.

Amana Ranges: What We Check First

Amana ranges are mostly freestanding models in gas, electric coil and electric smoothtop versions, built on Whirlpool platforms. They are common in rental homes, apartments and builder-grade kitchens. Controls are usually straightforward, with knobs for the cooktop and either knobs or a basic electronic panel for the oven. Because a range combines a cooktop and an oven, problems can come from either part. Many Amana gas ranges also put the broiler in the main oven cavity rather than a separate drawer, so one burner does both jobs.

Digital Controls and Glass Tops in Newer Homes

For gas ranges, a smell of gas means leaving and calling the gas utility or 911. We test the control board, elements or igniters, sensor and fan, then give the diagnosis and price before replacing anything. If the range is still under warranty, we point that out.
