The burners on my Thor dual-fuel range work but the oven won't heat. Why?

The oven runs on electricity, so it can fail independently of the gas cooktop. A partly tripped breaker, a burned-out element or a failed control relay are the most likely causes. Reset the breaker fully, and if the oven stays cold, the elements and board need testing.

My range's display went dark after a thunderstorm in East Charlotte. What can I try?

Switch off its breaker for a few minutes, then turn it back on to reset the control. If the display stays dark, the control board, a fuse on the board or the power supply may have been damaged. We test those before suggesting a part.

Thor Ranges: What We Check First

Thor's dual-fuel ranges pair gas burners on top with an electric convection oven below, so the range needs both a gas line and a 240-volt circuit. The brand also sells electric and induction ranges in the same pro-style shell. That split matters for diagnosis, because a dual-fuel Thor can have a perfectly healthy cooktop and a dead oven, or the other way around, and the two halves fail for completely different reasons.

Digital Controls and Glass Tops in Newer Homes

Toward Reedy Creek and the Mint Hill side, newer subdivisions and townhome communities often came with builder-package ranges: smooth glass tops, digital controls and sometimes convection. These ranges can fail in ways older stoves do not, such as a control board that locks up or goes dark after a summer storm surge, an oven that shows an error and refuses to heat, or a radiant element that cycles poorly. A Reset, Then a Proper Diagnosis

Turn off the range's breaker for several minutes and restore it, which can clear a frozen display. Make sure the oven door closes fully, since a door sensor can block heating. For gas ranges, a smell of gas means leaving and calling the gas utility or 911. We test the control board, elements or igniters, sensor and fan, then give the diagnosis and price before replacing anything. If the range is still under warranty, we point that out.
