Sub-Zero ice comes from two very different machines. Most refrigerators and freezers have an automatic ice maker inside the freezer compartment, fed by a water valve and line. Separately, Sub-Zero sells undercounter ice makers that produce clear ice in a dedicated cabinet, often installed in a bar, butler's pantry or outdoor kitchen. Undercounter units need a water supply, a drain, and either gravity drainage or a drain pump.

High Demand and Water Lines Through the Floor
In East Charlotte ranch homes, the refrigerator's water line often comes up through the floor from the crawl space, sometimes from an old saddle valve tapped into a pipe below.
