Why does only the inner ring of my Fisher & Paykel burner light?

Dual-flow burners have separate inner and outer rings, and the outer ports can clog with spills. Remove the rings, clean them and let them dry fully before reseating. If the outer ring still will not light, the valve or burner base may need service.

New Cooktops on Older Circuits

Induction and electric smoothtop cooktops draw a lot of current and depend on clean, steady power. In a renovated older home, a cooktop added during a remodel may share a panel with circuits that were never upgraded.
