Why does the top of my Roper agitator spin freely?

On older direct-drive Roper washers, the agitator dogs inside the top section wear out and stop gripping. The bottom of the agitator still moves, but the top freewheels and clothes do not roll over properly. Replacing the dogs is a quick, inexpensive repair.

My Steele Creek washer keeps adding time to the cycle. Is it broken?

Not necessarily. High-efficiency washers extend the cycle when they sense an unbalanced load, slow draining or too many suds. Try a smaller mixed load with the right amount of HE detergent. If it still stalls, the drain pump or a sensor may need testing.

High-Efficiency Washers in Newer Homes
