Why does my Electrolux keep making ice clumps in the door?

Clumping usually means the ice is partly melting and refreezing. That points to warm air leaking past the ice compartment seal, a slow compartment fan, or a freezer that is not reaching temperature. We test those together so the fix lasts.

Builder-Package Fridges Reaching Middle Age

Subdivisions along US-74 and Old Monroe Road went up over a short span of years, so a lot of the refrigerators here are similar in age and style: side-by-side or French-door models with through-the-door water and ice. Once they pass their first decade, the usual complaints are a fresh-food section that drifts warm, frost behind the freezer panel from a defrost fault, and dispensers that drip or quit.

A safe first look takes a few minutes. Pull the kick plate, unplug the unit and vacuum the condenser coils, which collect spring pollen and pet hair faster than most owners realize. Then check that the door gaskets seal along their full length, since humid summer air sneaking past a tired gasket causes sweating and frost.
