Over-the-Range Units Do Two Jobs

Most kitchens in these subdivisions have an over-the-range microwave with a built-in fan and light for the cooktop below. That high-voltage section is the reason to be careful. Microwaves store a dangerous charge in the capacitor even when unplugged, so do not remove the cabinet. Owners can safely wash or replace the grease filters, check the breaker, and reset power once after a summer storm blanks the display.
