Slide-in and dual-fuel ranges in newer homes

Slide-in ranges fit flush between cabinets and often have front controls, a glass or sealed-burner top and a convection oven below. That tight fit means the unit usually has to come out to reach the gas connection, the anti-tip bracket or the rear wiring. The technician protects the floor and reinstalls the bracket afterward, because a range without one can tip when the open oven door is loaded.

Dual-fuel ranges combine gas burners with an electric oven, so they need both a gas line and a 240-volt circuit. The top and the oven are separate systems, and a fault in one does not condemn the other.
