Does my Roper dishwasher have a filter I need to clean?

Newer Roper dishwashers built on Whirlpool's current platform usually have a removable filter under the bottom spray arm. It should be twisted out and rinsed every month or so. Older units often use a self-cleaning disposer instead and do not have a removable filter.

My dishwasher in an older Kannapolis kitchen fills with sink water. Why?

Retrofitted dishwashers in older kitchens

When a dishwasher is added to a compact mill-house kitchen, it often ends up in a cabinet space that was cut down to fit, with a drain line run over to the sink and a water line tapped off the sink supply. Those connections are where trouble starts: a drain hose without a high loop can let sink water back into the tub, and a loose compression fitting can drip quietly onto a subfloor over the crawl space.

If you see water under the dishwasher, turn off the water at the sink shutoff and the power at the breaker. Check that the filter in the bottom of the tub is clean and that the door gasket is not torn. A floor that feels soft near the dishwasher is worth pointing out when you book.

The technician checks the pump, inlet valve, door latch, heater and the installation itself. Newer homes on the edges of Kannapolis tend to have standard builder installs where a pump or control failure is the usual fault. Either way, you get the diagnosis and price before work.
