Why does the glass door on my JennAir wine cellar fog up?

In humid Charlotte summers, a door that does not seal fully lets warm, moist air reach the cold glass. Check the gasket for gaps and make sure the unit is level so the door closes on its own. Persistent fogging can also point to a failed door heater on models that have one.

My under-counter wine cooler in a SouthPark kitchen runs all the time. Why?

Check whether it is designed for built-in use. A freestanding model vents from the back and overheats in a cabinet opening. If it is a built-in model, a clogged front grille, a failed condenser fan or a door seal problem is more likely, and we can test each one.

Built-In Wine Refrigerators and Airflow

Wine coolers designed to be built in vent through the front grille at the bottom. A freestanding model slid under a counter, which sometimes happens during a remodel, has nowhere to dump its heat, so it runs constantly and the bottles warm up. In larger homes toward Quail Hollow and Foxcroft, dual-zone units with separate thermostats can lose one zone to a failed fan or sensor while the other keeps working. Summer humidity also shows up as condensation on the glass door or water pooling inside, often from a weak door gasket or a blocked drain.

A Quick Check, Then a Diagnosis
