JennAir Stoves: What We Check First
On a JennAir stove, the cooking surface is where most daily wear happens. Gas models use sealed burners with brass or aluminum caps and an electronic spark ignition system, often with dual-stacked burners that can simmer very low. Electric and induction stoves use radiant elements or coils under a glass top. Some older JennAir stoves also have a built-in downdraft vent between the burners, which brings its own blower and filter into the picture.
- Spark electrode fouled by spills, causing constant clicking on gas burners
- Spark module or burner switch failure preventing ignition
- Clogged or misaligned burner caps producing weak, uneven flames
- Radiant element or switch failure leaving one electric burner cold
The full explanation, including what you can safely check yourself and when repair beats replacement, is in our JennAir stove repair guide.
Gas Stoves for First-Time Gas Cooks
Many newer Steele Creek subdivisions were built with natural gas to the kitchen, and plenty of owners moving in are cooking on a gas stove for the first time. Some of what seems like a fault is normal: a few clicks at ignition and a mostly blue flame with small tips of orange. Other signs are not normal, including a burner that never lights, a flame that lifts off the ports, or one that burns tall and yellow.
Most of those come down to burner caps seated wrong after cleaning, ports clogged with spills, or an igniter or spark module that has failed. Electric stoves in Steele Creek townhomes and apartments have a different list, more often losing a radiant element, an infinite switch or a terminal connection.
If you smell gas, leave the home and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. For other issues, let the stove cool, reseat the caps and clear the ports with a straight pin, not a toothpick. We test igniters, switches and valves and quote first.
