Burners That Quit or Won't Turn Down

Coil-top cooking surfaces remain common in older west-side homes and rental units. A Safe First Check and the Repair

Turn off the breaker before pulling a coil element, then swap it with a working one to see whether the problem follows the element. On gas, clean and dry the burner cap and base and reseat them, but do not touch the supply line. Leave and call the gas utility or 911 if you smell gas. We test the element, switch, receptacle or igniter and price the repair before ordering.
