The current models are plain, practical units whose insides follow the standard pattern of magnetron, high-voltage transformer, capacitor, diode and a stack of door interlock switches.

When a Mounted Microwave Is Worth Fixing

Countertop microwaves are inexpensive enough that most owners replace them, but over-the-range models are another story because they also serve as the vent hood and are bolted above the range.
