What is different about repairing an LG inverter microwave?

Inverter models replace the traditional transformer with an inverter board that powers the magnetron. If the unit runs but does not heat, the inverter board is a likely suspect along with the magnetron. These parts carry high voltage and should only be tested by a technician.

The microwave in our Wingate rental sparks inside. Can it be repaired?

Often, yes. Sparking is commonly caused by a burned or greasy waveguide cover, which is an inexpensive part, or by metal left inside. Stop using it until it is checked. We will tell you if the magnetron or cavity has been damaged.

When a Mounted Microwave Is Worth Fixing

Countertop microwaves are inexpensive enough that most owners replace them, but over-the-range models are another story because they also serve as the vent hood and are bolted above the range. In Wingate rentals, door latches and switches wear out from being slammed, and turntables crack.
