Amana offers a limited selection of basic gas and electric cooktops. Most Amana cooking appliances are freestanding ranges. We repair both.

Our glass cooktop in Monroe has one element that will not heat. Is the glass the problem?

Usually not. A dead element on an intact glass top is most often a failed radiant element, a limiter or the infinite switch for that burner. We test each part and replace only what failed.

Do you service gas cooktops on propane in rural homes near Wingate?

Amana Cooktops: What We Check First

Amana sells a limited selection of drop-in cooktops, mostly basic gas and electric models. Most Amana cooking we see is on freestanding ranges, but where an Amana cooktop is installed, it follows the same simple Whirlpool-based designs. Gas cooktops use sealed burners and spark igniters, while electric cooktops use coil or radiant elements with infinite switches.

Counter-Mounted Cooktops in Remodeled Kitchens

Separate cooktops are less common here than in the big subdivisions to the west, but plenty of Monroe kitchens were remodeled with one, and newer homes around town sometimes have them too. Electric glass-tops lose radiant elements and infinite switches; gas cooktops have igniters that keep clicking or spark without lighting, often after a boilover soaks the burner.

In older Monroe homes, a cooktop may be connected to wiring or a gas line that predates the cabinets around it. That does not usually cause failures, but it can affect how the technician gets underneath and whether anything looks unsafe. We will point out concerns and leave gas line and wiring changes to the right trades.
